Leisurely walks
Montmartre area
| The best way to discover Montmartre is to lose yourself in the steep and cobbled streets of this historic and fascinating neighbourhood of Paris. For those with little time, here is a suggestion for a leisurely walk. From the TERRASS HOTEL Paris, go to Place des Abbesses: you can see the Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre Church with its Art-Nouveau inspired architecture. Also notice the Art-Nouveau entrance of the “Abbesses” Metro station which is one of just two original ones left in Paris. Continue to Place St-Pierre from where you have a beautiful view on the Sacré-Coeur basilica with its gardens and the antique-style merry-go-round at the front. For those who don’t feel like walking to reach the Sacré-Coeur, the funicular railway will take you up easily for the price of one metro ticket. On top of the hill, enjoy the spectacular view over the roofs of Paris, and go on to the famous Place du Tertre filled with dozens of artists offering their works. Then, visit the Espace Dali, a museum entirely dedicated to the artist. After a stop in the Montmartre Museum, move on to the Clos de Montmartre, a vineyard covering more than 1500m². Just next to the vineyard you will find the Lapin Agile Cabaret. On your way back to the TERRASS HOTEL, when passing Rue Tholozé, look up to see the Moulin de la Galette one of the last working windmills of Montmartre.
